And for the most part evernote has always won due to its simplicity and more important ease of use due to extensions such as evernote web clipper, where I can just “clip and forget”. The web clipper makes is sssoooooooooooo easy to just clip anything that I read. And once clipped, I can be assured that it is always there in my evernote. This clip and forget feature makes it the app to use.
However one of the reasons OneNote is and has always been alluring is due to the fact that it is entirely customisable and it is literally like a digital notebook. There are things that you can do with OneNote that Evernote can not ever do. I do like OneNote, and will always want to use OneNote, but the simplicity of Evernote will always make me choose it over OneNote.

However since I have started on my PhD, I have increasing started the use of Docear. A software that tries to be jack of all trades. The best way to describe it is like Mendeley smaller brother and Evernote and FreeMind combined. Evernote has been relegated to simply an archiving system. Clip and Forget.
